Police reminding residents about ongoing Bitcoin scams
Another reminder from Waterloo Regional Police to be wary of fake, threatening phone calls. Fraudsters have become especially prevalent during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they generally coerce people into sending payments through Bitcoin. In most instances, they claim to be representatives from a government agency – like Service Canada, Service Ontario, or the Canada Revenue Agency.
